Yamaha has rolled out yet another variant of the MT-09, and this time, it is unlike anything that we had ever imagined.

The latest variant to join the model line up is actually a trike. Yes, you read that right. Called the ‘LMW-MWT-9’, the trike, which shares the same engine and platform as the MT-09, features an independently sprung two-wheeled front end.

The Yamaha MWT-9  trike, which is still a concept, was designed to have ‘exceptional cornering performance’ that is brought about by its twin front wheels, which, with the outward positioned front suspension, maximise the bank angle and the machines cornering ability.

The company says that the LMW acronym in its name stands for Leaning Multi Wheel. However, Yamaha didn’t disclosed any details on what the MWT bit stands for, while the ‘MT’ bit surely relates to the existing MT range.

The Yamaha MWT-9 trike is the second trike to be unveiled by Japanese bike manufacturers at the ongoing Tokyo International Motor Show, after Honda launched the Neowing trike, which uses a hybrid motor to generate its drive.
